Tickets for the 2012 South Carolina State Fair and for the Pepsi® Grandstand concerts go on sale Wednesday, August 1, 2012.

Tickets for admission, rides and Pepsi® Grandstand concerts are available online at www.scstatefair.org. Admission and ride tickets can also be purchased at participating area BI-LO locations.

Family Fun Packs – back this year by popular demand – include five admission tickets, two ride vouchers and ten $1 food discount coupons. The $110 value is only $65.

Over 1300 foster children get permanent families

 The South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) has met and exceeded another “Wildly Important Goal.”  On June 25th, DSS increased by more than 50 percent the number of children in long-term foster care (on average waiting 3.5 years) to get permanent families.

“We set an ambitious goal,” explains Lillian Koller, the new DSS State Director, “to get,  within one year, as many as 1,184 long-term foster children into permanent families” -- 385 through reunification with their biological families and 799 through adoptions with new families.  “And we exceeded t

The 2012-2013 school year will be here before you know it! Come out and help SC students get the school supplies they need to start the year off right. The School Supply Drive hosted by the Midlands Workforce Development Board will be held at all Midlands Workforce locations from July 16th through the 20th from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. All of the donations will benefit The Cooperative Ministry.

SC State Fair launches property-wide camera system for safety, traffic monitoring

With the safety of patrons being the primary concern at the South Carolina State Fair, it comes as no surprise that fair operators are turning to new advances in technology to help enhance their security operations

Recently, organizers installed a property-wide network consisting of 18 cameras – most of which have the ability to remotely pan, tilt and zoom – that provide wireless video monitoring of the grounds, gates, traffic areas and parking lots.
