Humane Society: SC almost in last place for animal protection laws | News
The Humane Society of the United States recently released its 2011 Humane State Ranking, placing the state of South Carolina at 48.
The report rates all 50 states on a wide range of animal protection laws on issues ranging from animal fighting to farm animals to wildlife to companion animals.
South Carolina received a score of 13 out of 66, which is a decrease from 2010.
According to HSUS, South Carolina is one of the few states with no felony penalties for cockfighting.
