Lottery winner hides ticket in car, clocks in at work

Cheryl Code found it hard to concentrate at work knowing she hid a lottery ticket worth $155,555 under the floor mat in her car.

Code bought the Fantastic 5’s ticket at Cuzs Corner on S. Congress St. in Winnsboro on her way to work and scratched the ticket in her car once she got there.

"I kept blinking my eyes,” she said when she saw she won the top prize.

Unable to speak and with tears rolling down her cheeks, the part time cashier clocked in, but not for long.  She told her boss what happened and that she didn’t think she could stay at work.  Code left and called a friend to drive her to Columbia to collect her winnings.

“We were driving, crying and shouting on the way,” Code said.

Her plans for the cash:  “I’m buying a brand new car,” she said.

As of this release, two top prizes of $155,555 remain in the $5 Fantastic 5’s game.  The odds of winning $155,555 are 1 in 600,000.

Cuzs Corner received a commission of $1,555 for selling the claimed ticket.
