RIDGEWAY, SC (WIS)- A man's son and daughter-in-law are facing serious charges after authorities investigating his death noticed bruises on his body.
According to the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department, Dwayne Maurice Green and Tonya Lavonne Harris are being held without bond at the Fairfield County Detention Center.
Investigators say Green, 43, has been charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult resulting in homicide. His wife, Tonya, 48, faces a charge of neglect of a vulnerable adult.
The charges come after the death of Dwayne's father, Thomas Green. The 63-year-old veteran died of a heart attack on Tuesday evening at the couple's home on Bellfield Road.
During the investigation, the coroner discovered several bruises on Thomas Green's body and determined that the heart attack was the result of him being beaten, according to Chief Deputy Keith Lewis.
Family members say Dwayne had offered to take care of his father after he suffered an aneurysm in the summer of 2012.
