Autopsy concludes woman pulled from lake in car drowned | News
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WIS)- The Fairfield County Coroner says an autopsy has been completed on a woman who was pulled from Lake Wateree Friday night. Coroner Barkley Ramsey says Inge Conrad drowned and her death was ruled accidental.
Fairfield County Chief Deputy Keith Lewis says the 79-year-old Conrad's body was inside the vehicle when they pulled it out of the water just after 11 p.m. Friday.
The vehicle was found Friday night in the water about 45 yards away from Conrad's home off Rolling Hills Road in Ridgeway.
Lewis says there is evidence that a car ran off the driveway of Conrad's home and into the water. He says divers from the Department of Natural Resources searched the lake, which is about 15 feet deep.
Investigators suspected the vehicle went into the lake because they found tire tracks into the water, tables overturned and trees bent.
Conrad was last seen leaving her son's house in Camden around 2:00 Thursday afternoon, according to Lewis. She has another son who lives with her at her home on Rolling Hills Road and he said she never made it home.
They filed a missing persons report, but this morning one of her sons noticed the evidence around the lake.
