Applications Available Now for 2013 SC Commissioner’s School for Agriculture

 

Rising high school juniors and seniors interested in attending this year's South Carolina Commissioner's School for Agriculture (SCCSA), held at Clemson University, can go online now to download their application. The application needs to be postmarked by Tuesday, April 16.

 

Students selected for the program will spend the week of July 20 -26 looking into careers related to agriculture, forestry, wildlife management, and natural resources.

Nominate a VolunTeacher  Share   Educate   Inspire.  Junior Achievement of Central South Carolina (JACSC) is looking for 100 entrepreneurs and business leaders in Central South Carolina to share their experiences as JA VolunTeachers. The time commitment is minimal (as little as 5 hours over a 4 week period) but the impact is immeasurable.

More than 200 third graders will help the Richland Library and Columbia Museum of Art launch a new art and literacy initiative called All Around the Town: All Around the Town at 9 a.m. on March 4.

Community learning centers awarded more than $1.8M for after-school programs

Community learning centers awarded more than $1.8M for after-school programs

Twenty-two 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants totaling $1.8 million have been awarded to community learning centers statewide, according to a news release.

 

Each grantee will receive up to $200,000 annually for up to four years to operate a community learning center that provides a multitude of academic and enrichment activities to students before school, after school, and during the summer.

SCDE to Offer Technical Assistance for Charter School Development

 

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) will conduct a free technical assistance session for individuals or groups interested in applying to open a charter school on January 30, 2013.

The workshop will cover the charter school application and the application process to assist in preparing a quality proposal. Attendees should limit their participation to no more than two representatives per applicant group.
