Go back to school SMART

SMART Technologies and South Carolina Future Minds have partnered to create a fun contest to put cool new technology into three winning South Carolina schools. The “Go Back to School Contest” is open to all state public schools over the next five weeks and will bring three schools new equipment such as interactive response systems and a document camera.

Here’s how it works:

From Sept. 1 through midnight of Sept. 22, anyone can go to the “South Carolina Future Minds” Facebook page and nominate their school for the SMART Technologies prize package.

Fairfield County Schools are invited to apply for salad bars

South Carolina schools interested in receiving salad bars for their cafeterias are invited to apply at www.saladbars2schools.org. Produce for Kids and Publix Super Markets are joining with Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools to support the donation of salad bars to schools in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina.

South Carolina GED testing program has the best national passing rate

South Carolina’s GED test-takers improved their passing rates on the high school equivalency exams in 2010 and also bested the national passing rate for the first time, the State Department of Education reported on Thursday.
