State Museum Awarding Free School Field Trip to Secrets of the Maya Exhibit

 

The South Carolina State Museum will send one lucky South Carolina school class to its spectacular new blockbuster exhibit Secrets of the Maya…for free!  In the museum’s new field trip contest, by completing the entry form on the museum’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/scstatemuseum and then clicking on the Enter Field Trip Contest tab, teachers may enter their classes from 8 a.m. Jan. 16 to Feb. 6 at midnight for a chance to win.

Museum hosts contest for class to see Secrets of the Maya

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The South Carolina State Museum is offering a South Carolina school class a chance to see the Secrets of the Maya exhibit for free.  The museum is hosting an online contest to determine the winner.

Teachers who would like to sign thier classes up for the contest can go to the museum's Facebook page for an entry form. Teachers can enter their classes from January 16 to February 6.

Visitors to the museum's Facebook page can vote on the class they would like to see get the free field trip.

Starting today through Tuesday, Jan. 8, Food Lion shoppers may help their local schools earn up to $20,000 by collecting box tops from specially-marked General Mills products.

The “Return to School” program offers customers the opportunity to purchase any six specially-marked General Mills products at any Food Lion store, and collect the box tops to earn money for their local school. Food Lion also participates in events throughout the year to support the Box Tops for Education program.

University awards three full-tuition scholarships nationwide to eligible Military Police Regimental

 

University of Phoenix® and Military Police Regimental Association (MPRA), a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services and assistance to Military Police Soldiers and their families around the world, today announced the three nationwide recipients of the 2012 University of Phoenix MPRA scholarships. The full-tuition scholarships were awarded to eligible MPRA members and family members.

South Carolina To Hold State Employee Recognition Days

The South Carolina athletics department is pleased to announce four upcoming Gamecock home contests which will be marked as "South Carolina State Employee Recognition Days," with all state employees and their family members receiving $1 admission to select home contests when they show their state ID card at the gate.

 

The first event for the initiative is the women's soccer contest on Sunday, Oct. 14th versus Ole Miss at 1 p.m., followed by a men's soccer home match on Saturday, Oct. 20th versus Memphis, with game time set for 7 p.m.

Tailgate the Certified SC Grown Way When Gamecocks Battle Bulldogs

 

The Carolina Gamecocks will battle the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday, October 6, but fans can enjoy a different kind of battle before the game.  The South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) is hosting the Certified SC Grown Tailgate at Gamecock Village on Bluff Road in Columbia. The free tailgate starts at 4 p.m. Just look for the green and white tent.
