600 SC Students Demonstrate Workforce Readiness Skills
More than 600 students from 24 high schools across the state gathered today to demonstrate their ability to excel in the workplace. 

 

At the 2012 Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG-SC) Career Development Conference, students spent the day competing in challenges that tested their workforce readiness skills. All of the day’s events were focused around this year’s theme: “If it is to be, it is up to me!”

Midlands Tech Classes -The Corporate & Continuing Education courses are available throughout the year (which are all non-degree programs) and do not have registration dates or semester start & end dates.  A student can register for a CCE course, in most cases, even the day the course begins.

Paper copies of 2012 report cards may be optional

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - School officials will not have to provide printed copies of schools' and districts' 2012 state report cards under a bill approved unanimously in the House.

The bill sent to the Senate on Thursday says public school districts can inform parents of report card results by emailing them a link to the state agency's website or providing it through school newsletters.

Bojangles’ presented hundreds of books to local District Teachers of the Year on Wednesday. 

This donation event was one of 16 planned for this year, and is part of Bojangles’ ongoing partnership with South Carolina Future Minds, which is designed to support teachers across the state who make a positive impact on their students and the future of South Carolina through their commitment to education.

South Carolina will receive $8.1 million to continue the work of turning around its persistently lowest-achieving schools through the Education Department's School Improvement Grants (SIG) program, according to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
