Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced that from 9:00 AM – 12 noon on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Capital Chevrolet, 111 Newland Road. Richland County Sheriff’s Deputies in conjunction with Midlands Safe Kids will be conducting Child Seat Safety Checks. Sheriff Lott realizes the importance of protecting our most precious cargo and knows an improperly restrained toddler or infant is at risk to injury.

Budweiser of Columbia, a locally owned and operated beer and wine distributor, is proud to offer this great service to all their friends and neighbors during the celebration of New Year’s, 2012.

Budweiser is once again joining, Checker Yellow Cab and others to provide the annual New Year’s Eve Free Ride Home Program.

 

Cabs will be stationed at the following locations for the subsidized cab rides on December 31, between 11 pm and 3am:

  1. Near the Fountain In Five Points
  2. Near the Wild Hare in the Vista
  3. Near the corner of Lady Stree

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety troopers and officers are making plans to keep the highways safe as people celebrate this long New Year's holiday weekend, which begins tonight at 6 p.m. and runs through midnight January 1. Last year, over the 78-hour New Year’s holiday period, seven people were killed in traffic crashes.
